Materials + Finishes
All my boards can be made in a range of different materials.
Core
EPS – EXPANDED POLY STYRENE FOAM:
Lightweight full of air, so more buoyancy.
PU – POLYURETHANE FOAM:
The traditional core of most surfboards.
FINISH
Polyester Resin:
The traditional resin of the surf industry (Can’t be used on EPS).
Epoxy Resin:
A little better for the environment and can be used on EPS and PU foam.
MATERIALS
Paulownia:
A strong lightweight timber sustainably harvested.
Cork:
A naturally buoyant material harvested from the bark of the Cork Oak tree with no ill effects to the tree.
Flax:
A natural fibre with long grain and great strength. Linen fabric has been made from flax for centuries.
Native Hardwoods:
A wide range of .4mm natural hardwood veneers can also be added over the Paulownia skins to provide a very special look and feel without adding too much weight.
